Delbert L. Hudson

Delbert L. Hudson, 74, of South Shore, KY., passed away Friday, March 3, 2023 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, OH. Delbert was born in Portsmouth, OH., January 18, 1949 a son of the late Jim and Violet Long Brandenberg. Delbert was a 1967 Graduate of Glenwood High School in New Boston, OH., where he played Baseball, Basketball and Football all four years.

Delbert turned down a football scholarship to the University of Michigan to join the Marine Corps, he served our country in the Vietnam War as an 0311 Infantry Rifleman. He was a licensed Little League umpire in the state of Ohio, coached the South Shore Bulldogs peewee football team, was very active as a coach and umpire in South Shore Stan Spence Little League and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by one brother, Doug Hudson and one sister, Lois Hoover.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Rebecca Parks Hudson; four children, Johnna (Chris) Ailster, Herb (Karen) Parks, Leigh Ann (Josh) Grayson and Dawndy Wagner all of South Shore, KY; eleven grandchildren, Morgan (Shane) Parks Smith, Peyton Ailster, Seth Ailster, Joshia Grayson, Gracie Parks, Maggie Grayson, Charleigh Grayson, Taybor Wagner, Bayleigh Wagner, Christian Hudson and Chase Hudson; five great-grandchildren, Owen Smith, Parker Smith, Hudson Berry, Emerson Berry, CJ Hudson and several other family and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be 12 P.M. Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Grayson, KY. Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 10 A.M. until the funeral hour.

Delbert earned the title Kentucky Colonel for his involvement in youth sports in our community. In Lieu of flowers donation can be made to Mckell Middle School Athletic Fund, 129 Bulldog LN South Shore, KY 41175.
