Donald L. Abrams, 75, lifetime resident of West Portsmouth left his earthly body and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday September 6, 2023. He was the son of James L. and Gladys M. Hall Abrams. He leaves behind his loving wife Rosalie Zimmerman Abrams of 56 years.
Donald is survived by his two sons Kenneth (Angie) Abrams and Darrick (Cricket) Abrams. Grandchildren Jessica (her fiancé Nathan Ward) Abrams, Amanda (Nick) Tackett, Donald Abrams, Kassie Abrams, Rachael (Derrick) Mershon, Andrew Abrams and step granddaughter Megan Lewis. Great-grandchildren Josalyn Lewis, Sloan Piatt, Evelyn Tackett, and Henry Mershon. Also surviving are his siblings Darlene (Jim) Call, Gary (Laquita) Abrams, Janie Teeters and several nieces, nephews and other family who will all miss him dearly.
Donald was proceeded in death by his parents, his son David, his mother and father-in-law Marcus and Kathleen Carver Zimmerman, and a sister Ardith (Art) McFann.
Donald was a 32-year employee of UPS and a Army Veteran of the Vietnam war. He was also a deputy sheriff and chief of security at the Portsmouth Receiving Hospital.
Donald enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow and thrive.
Funeral Services will be 2 P.M. Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Pastor Kevin Call officiating. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home Monday, September 11, 2023 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. and 12 P.M. until the service hour on Tuesday.
