Dorothy (Rapp) Comer

Dorothy “Dottie” L. Rapp (Huffman) Comer, 96, of South Shore, KY., went home to be with her Heavenly Father and those who have gone before her, Thursday, August 1, 2024 at South Shore Nursing & Rehab in South Shore, KY. She was born on December 28, 1927 at Beaver Creek, West Portsmouth, Ohio, a daughter of the late Clyde Rapp and Minnie Bell (Snyder) Wells.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, Martin L. Huffman; second husband, Lovell L. Bradley Sr., and third husband James Comer; two sons, Aaron Huffman and Lovell L. Bradley Jr; one daughter, Brenda May; three sisters; four brothers; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Left behind to cherish her memory are two sons, Rodney (Linda) Huffman of Louisville, KY., and Thomas Huffman of New Boston, OH; three daughters, Linda Bryan of Sciotoville, OH., Rebecca (Jeff) Grooms of Sciotoville, OH., and Alice (Ted) Marsh of Four Oaks of NC; one daughter-in-law, Elly Huffman of Goldsboro, NC. She was a loving grandmother of sixteen living grandchildren, thirty seven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Dottie Comer also has family members living in multiple states.

Dottie Comer had a heart for God, family, her country, people, and animals. She always looked for ways to help and encourage others, through her Peanut Butter and Jelly Ministry, sending coloring pictures, cards and crocheted shawls to others in hospitals, nursing homes, friends, and family. She will be missed by her family and many others.

Funeral Services will be 2 P.M. Monday, August 5, 2024 at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Gary Newman officiating. Burial will follow at MT Zion Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, August 4, 2024 at the funeral home from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. and one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Our mother has always been one to believe that flowers need to be sent while one is alive and she always look for ways to help those in need in her local community. So we ask in lieu of flowers that you will make a donation to your local community to the Homeless Centers, Children’s Homes, Feed the Hungry, any local charity that helps those in need. Or to local Animal Shelters, to help them care for these animals till they can get adopted to forever homes.

She also supported Hospice.

These donations will help continue Dottie Comer’s ministry and memory.
