Douglas “Tex” Glen Ritter was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky on March 9, 2023.
Tex was born to the late Glenn C. and Norma Ritter in Guymon, Oklahoma on February 29, 1952. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother (Frederick Ritter), a daughter (Erin Elaine Ritter), two grandchildren (Luke Aaron Dunn and Rodney Eugene Dunn).
Tex resided in Flatwoods, Kentucky where he met Lora Jane (Lyons) Ritter and they married on January 27, 2018. He leaves behind his loving wife, a sister (Marilyn Powell), four children (Aubrey Marie Norma Ritter (Stacey) Russell, Charles (Lisa) Roach, Brent (Miranda) McGlone, and Felisha (Daniel) Kyle.
Tex was a long-time member of the NRA, an avid gunman who loved to shoot at all kinds of targets, including pop cans and watermelons. He enjoyed doing his own reloading. As much as he loved the outdoors, he could also be found stretched out and reading a good book. He liked non-fiction books pertaining to the Civil War and history. He was a die-hard Cincinnati Bengals and Kentucky Wildcats fan. He was a proud USMC veteran and was always faithful to the end. He had a kind heart and would help anyone who asked.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his loving wife, children, 10 grandchildren (Alexander Breeding, Sarah (Brandon) McDaniel, Megan Dunn, Haven McCord, Rayna McCord, Willow McGlone, Lucas McGlone, Morgan Roach, Amber Johnson, John Pemberton, one great granddaughter (Harlyn McDaniel), and several special friends. He will forever be in our hearts.
