Ellis Bentley

Ellis Everett Bentley, 96, of Tygart Bend Road in South Shore, KY, stepped
onto the shores of heaven on April 6, 2017. Ellis was born in Millstone, KY on
February 24,1921 to Elbert and Sabrina Craft Bentley. He was preceded in death
by his loving wife of 70 years, Ruth Adams Bentley (2009), daughter, Victoria
(1954) and infant son, Jerome (1949). He is survived by his children, Carol
Martin (Frank) Lancaster, KY, Yvonne Woodard (Bob) Flatwoods, KY, Jeff Bentley
(Jean) Union, KY, Phillip Bentley (Linda Dale) South Shore, Joyce Bentley, South
Shore, Linda Patterson (John) Troy, OH and Ellis Bentley, Jr. "Ed"(Brenda) Mt.
Washington, KY. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, twenty-six great
grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Ellis owned and operated a
coal mine in the 50's in Millstone, KY. Deciding that the opportunities of
farming would be a better way of life, Ellis and Ruth decided to move their
seven children to a new farm on Tygart Bend in South Shore. He would then follow
his passions of carpentry and farming for many years. He was a general foreman
involved in the construction of several large buildings in the Ashland and
Lexington, KY area. He loved anything outdoors, especially fishing and hunting.
But more than that, he loved his Lord, and cherished his wife and family. Ellis
was a member and deacon of the Old Regular Baptist Church of South Shore.
Funeral services will be held at MORTON FUNERAL HOME in South Shore at 1 pm on
Saturday April 8, 2017 with Brother Chester Allen and Pastor David Thomasson
officiating. Visitation will be Friday, April 7, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm and 12pm
Saturday until the service. Interment will be at Siloam Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers, donations can be made to South Shore Old Regular Baptist Church, 721
Main St. South Shore, KY 41175.
