Garold "Gary" Vaughn

Garold Matthew “Gary” Vaughn, 75, of South Shore, KY, went to be with the Lord February 2, 2023 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, OH. He was born in Greenup, KY, December 22, 1947 a son of the late Andrew and Martha Jackson Vaughn.

Beloved husband, father, papaw, and friend, Gary was a minister at the Church of Christ in South Shore, KY, a United States Army Veteran, retired from AK Steel and a logger for many years. Gary possessed abundant talents, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all studying the Scriptures and spending time with his family. His humble and serving heart will be greatly missed. Gary enriched the lives of so many.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Connie McCarty Vaughn; two sons, Phillip (Rebecca) Vaughn of Blanchester, OH and Stephen (Andrea) Vaughn of South Shore, KY; one daughter, Rachel (Brenden) Balestra of South Shore, KY; one sister, Diane Bocook of Raceland, KY; two brothers, Doug (Patty) Vaughn and Harry Vaughn both of South Shore, KY; and eight grandchildren, Ethan (Marcy) Vaughn, Sophia (Jake) Schneider, Simon (Chloi) Vaughn, Addeline (Ethan) Winters, Amelia Balestra, Evan Balestra, Ruby Vaughn and Lila Balestra; along with several other family and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral Services will be 1 P.M. Monday, February 6, 2023 at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY, with Minister L.C. Moore and Minister Paul Keeton officiating. Burial will follow at MT Zion Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation will be Monday from 10 A.M. until 1 P.M. at the funeral home.
