Gregory Dale James

Gregory Dale James, 51, formerly of South Shore, KY., passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at his residence in Galloway, OH. He was born in Portsmouth, OH. on March 16, 1969 to Georgia (Stan) Richards and the late Theodore “Ted” (Connie) James, Jr.

Greg was a graduate of Greenup County High School class of 1987 and later received a bachelor’s degree from Morehead State University. He also received a nursing degree from Mount Carmel College of Nursing, starting his career as a registered nurse at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH.

Greg was a devoted father, husband and friend. He enjoyed fishing and dedicated countless hours volunteering with a local homeless shelter, animal rescue, and children with special needs.

He leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Beth Anne Jenkins James, and daughter Sarah Elizabeth James of Galloway, OH; mother Georgia (Stan) Richards of Otway, OH; one brother Jeff (Melissa) James of South Shore, KY; mother and father in law Jerry (Emma-Lou) Jenkins of Portsmouth, OH, and countless other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Friday, February 12, 2021 at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Pastor Rick Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Portsmouth, OH. Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour at 1 P.M. As a result of state guidelines due to COVID-19 face coverings and social distancing will be required. The funeral service will be available livestream at greenupbeacon.com.
