Helen (Nickel) Slater

Helen Slater, 80, of South Shore, KY., passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024 at Hill View Healthcare in Portsmouth, OH. She was born in Maloneton, KY., February 20, 1944 a daughter of the late Merle and Alma Fetters Nickel.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Jim Dud Slater; four sisters, Lorretta Nickel, Delores Quisenberry, Wanda Laack and Nellie Knusta; one brother, Ray Nickel and one sister-in-law, Velma Nickel.

Left behind to cherish her memory are one son, Patrick (Sherry) McGuire of South Shore, KY., one daughter, Leslie Daniels of Greenup, KY; special friend, Terry Manning; one grandchild, three great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several other family and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services will be 12 P.M. Monday, Aril 22, 2024 at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Leroy Fox officiating. Burial will follow at Bennett’s Chapel Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation will be Monday at the funeral home from 10 A.M. until the funeral hour.
