Iola "Darlene" King 91, of South Shore, KY passed away at her home, Friday, July 8, 2022. She was born July 19, 1930 in Fullerton, KY to the late William Henry Alexander and Mary Frances (Ratliff) Alexander.
Darlene was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Toby King, daughters Cheryl King and Kimberly King, sisters June Alexander, Ollie Mae Newman, Helene Foxx, Wanda Wells and brother Hank Alexander.
Darlene was a member of South Shore First United Methodist Church, owner/operator of Carriage House Creations Floral Shop, and co-owner, along with her husband, of King's Roller Rink; however, the role she was most proud of was that of homemaker. She also enjoyed crafting, cooking for her family and working in her flowers.
She is survived by her son Terry (Kathy) King of Portsmouth, OH., daughters Ginger (Keith) Cooper of South Portsmouth, KY., Tina King of South Shore, KY., grandson Chris King of Wheelersburg, Ohio whom she reared, Teri (Jamie Ferry) King of Portsmouth, OH., Nicole (Danny) Kelly of Grayson, KY., Adam (Kelsey Ley) Cook of Georgetown, KY., several great grandchildren and nieces & nephews whom she loved.
Funeral Services will be 1 P.M. Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Pastor Ken Southgate officiating. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 A.M. until the service hour.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers who looked after Darlene, especially special caregiver and friend Kathy, as well as the staff of Community Hospice of Ashland.
In lieu of flowers the family would welcome donations to Community Hospice of Ashland, Kentucky or South Shore First United Methodist Church, South Shore, Kentucky.
