James "Jim" Richards

James “Jim” Richards, 88, of South Shore, KY., went to be with his Lord Monday, February 12, 2024 at Ashland Community Hospice in Ashland, KY. He was born January 28, 1936 in Vanceburg, KY., a son of the late Cecil and Amanda Dotson Richards.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife Charlotte Richards; one brother, Charles Richards; one stepson, Robert (Bobby) Lawson JR and grandson, Ricky Lawson JR.

Jim was a member of the South Shore Christian Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School. He was a retired parts manager from Valley Auto Sales, loved Nascar Racing and restoring classic cars.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 41years Marilyn Timberlake Richards; two sons, David (Laura) Richards of Huber Heights, OH., and Robert (Teresa) Richards of Bradenton, FL; one daughter, Nancy Richards and her husband Marc Valet of Mebane, NC; one stepson, Rick (Connie) Lawson of South Shore, KY; one sister, Dorthy Craft of West Portsmouth, OH; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several other family and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Friday, February 16, 2024 at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Brett Unger officiating. The burial will follow at MT Zion Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday at the funeral home from 12 P.M. until 2 P.M.
