Larry Elliott Obituary

With great sorrow, the Elliott family announce the passing of our kind, loving and God-fearing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Larry Dean Elliott, 72, of South Shore, KY. He passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at his residence. He was born July 28, 1951 in Portsmouth, OH.  

Larry is survived and missed deeply by his loving wife Martha Ann Elliott of 52 years and their two children, Jason Elliott (Bree) of Morehead KY, and Miranda Roberts (Andy) of Bowling Green KY. Forever cherished and remembered as a loving Papaw by his six grandchildren, Kaden, Kynadee and Kason Elliott of Morehead KY; Emma Conn of Morehead KY; Drew and Hope Roberts of Bowling Green KY.

His memory will be cherished forever by his loving siblings. Three sisters; Connie (Dean) Stone of South Shore, Brenda Tarr of Scott Depot WV, and Angela (Rick) Patterson of Troy OH. Two brothers; Randy (Deloris) Bentley of Potomac MD and Rocky (Nancy) Bentley of Wheelersburg OH.  Two loving sister-in -laws, Willia Jean Chesser of South Shore KY and Kathy Sue Music of Lloyd KY; and three loving Brother-in-laws, Mark (Christy)Timberlake of South Shore KY, Millard Miller of South Shore KY and Robert Turner of Midway KY.

His memory lives on through his many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Madge Bentley, a sister; Lisa Jo Turner, a Niece; Erica Patterson, a sister-in-law; Patricia Miller and a brother-in-law; Larry Tarr. 

Larry was a 1969 Graduate of McKell High School. Larry worked his entire life. He grew up learning carpentry work alongside his father, John Bentley. He began building homes with his father as he was growing up and continued working as a young man. Larry was employed at Harbison Walker International in South Shore for 20 years until he retired in 2015. He was a member of the United Steel Workers union local #133. Before that, he worked for Ramtite Co. & Refractories for 17 years, as well as built many custom homes in the greater Lexington KY area alongside builder and friend, Randall Bruce. Larry was also a faithful employee of Morton & Hunt Family Funeral Home for over 17 years.

Larry had a passion for fast cars and loved his 1963 Chevrolet Impala SuperSport. As a young man, he and his friends would often drag race. His love for cars continued throughout his life. He enjoyed going to car shows and keeping his cars immaculate and clean. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Larry’s favorite place on this earth was the beach. He loved sitting in the sun on the beach with his toes in the sand. He really enjoyed long walks by the ocean. Larry absolutely loved music. He enjoyed all genres but loved bluegrass and classic rock most. He taught himself how to play the guitar and mandolin. When Larry was a young man, he served as the song leader in his church for many years.

Larry was a member of Harrison Fullerton Masonic Lodge #937. He enjoyed participating in events and volunteering.

Larry had a strong passion to serve the Lord. Larry was saved back on October 9, 1983. Larry has always been known as the “Amen brother” and the “Praise the Lord” brother in church. He was a blessing to all who knew him. He exuded kindness, happiness, and faithfulness in the Lord. He was never afraid to share the word of God with others.  He faithfully attended Lloyd Church of the Nazarene, Lloyd, KY, where he will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be at 6 P.M. Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with pastors Ken Martin JR and Kenny Martin III officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday at the funeral home from 2 P.M. until the funeral hour. There will be a private burial at Siloam Cemetery.

Pallbearers to honor Larry are; Aaron Timberlake, Derrick Timberlake, Jeremy Music, Nathan Miller, Josh Miller, Rodney Chesser, Kaden Elliott and Kason Elliott.
