Mary Adena Ensor Hobson of South Shore, Kentucky, passed away May 15, 2023, at her home.
Mrs. Hobson was born in South Shore, Kentucky, November 12, 1929, the fifth of eight children of the late George Ellsworth Ensor and Flora Edythe Fannin Ensor.
Mrs. Hobson worked many years in a variety of vocations, but at the age of 54 went to barber school in Louisville, Kentucky, and established and worked in her own barbershop in South Shore until retiring in 2005 at the age of 76.
Mrs. Hobson was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. A.J. Hobson, whom she worked along side in his ministry including a church plant in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Three brothers: Vernon Ensor, Vollin Ensor, and Jim Ensor; and three sisters: Eleanor Ensor Bryant, Gaynel Ensor Raschen, and Eloise Ensor Hendrix.
Mrs. Hobson is survived by three daughters: Mary Hobson Kain (Patrick) of Midway, Kentucky; Ginny Hobson Sublett (Robert) of Lloyd, Kentucky; and Rev. Rebecca Hobson Lawson (Raymond), with whom she lived, of South Shore, Kentucky; stepson, James Hobson of Lloyd, Kentucky.
Mrs. Hobson is also survived by six grandchildren: Anne Lawson, Grant Lawson (fiancée Kristen), A.J. Lawson, Adena Sublett, Nora Sublett, and Ellie Kain; and one sister, Edna Ensor Warnock of South Shore, Kentucky.
Funeral Services will be 11 A.M. Friday, May 19, 2023 at South Shore First Church of God 187 Main Street South Shore, KY. Burial will follow at MT. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. and one hour before the service hour at the church on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Hobson’s memory to Samaritan’s Purse, an organization in which she was pleased that her grandchildren, especially her grandson, are involved. A memorial page has been set up at samaritanspurse.org.
