Paul “Pete” Emerson Cade, 83, of South Shore, Kentucky passed away peacefully August 17, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 31, 1939, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late Harry and Esther Cade.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Gilliland Cade, who was the matriarch and guiding light of the Cade family; one son in law, Joe Greenslate Jr; as well as his eight siblings, Constance, Bill, Richard, Jerry, David Jack, Donald Gene, Phillip and Judith
Pete was a graduate of McKell High School. He worked at Empire Detroit Steel in New Boston, Ohio, and later retired from CSX Railroad. He was a welding instructor at ACTC, but his happiest work memories involved serving as a deputy sheriff for the Greenup County Sheriff’s Department. An avid learner, he loved gardening, studying Native American culture, and working in his garage. He built a full attic bedroom for his daughters to share, including creating 5 built-in bunk beds that became slumber party legend.
Surviving are his five daughters, who were his greatest source of pride, Delana (Lance) Warnock, Jennifer (Danny) Wright, Christy Greenslate, Mitzi (Brian) Lanning, and Scarlet (Jared) Shoemaker, nine grandchildren, Nicholas (Shawnda) Warnock, Aubrey (Matt) Roy, Jacob Wright, Lindsey (Jessy) Kegley, Joe Bob (Kameron) Greenslate, Alex Lanning, Eli Lanning, Sydney Shoemaker, and Sophia Shoemaker, and nine great grandchildren, Caden Warnock, Cali Warnock, Gavin Roy, Lucy Roy, Josey Kegley, Jordy Kegley, Joey Kegley, Hudson Wright, and Kennedy Greenslate.
Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Monday, August 22, 2022 at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, Kentucky, with minister, Ken Southgate, officiating. Burial will follow at MT Zion Cemetery in South Shore, Kentucky. Visitation will be held Monday from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mark Cade, Nicholas Warnock, Joe Bob Greenslate, Jacob Wright, Eli Lanning and Caden Warnock will serve as pallbearers.
