Paul Dean Kegley, 67, of Warnock went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Bluegrass Care Navigators Hospice Center in Lexington, KY. Paul was born April 9, 1957 in Ironton, Ohio, the only child of the late Paul and Elizabeth Allen Kegley.
He was a gentle soul who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He could often be found in his favorite swing sipping coffee with a lap full of cats or on the ground helping put brakes on someone’s car just because they asked him to. He was a jack of all trades and a very hard worker. He loved to garden and always planted way more than he should have and gave it all away to family and friends. Paul loved to travel and was always packed and ready for a road trip. Whether it be a day trip to Wheeling or a longer excursion to Maine or Florida, he took it all in and enjoyed every moment. He loved to tinker and one of the proudest fruits of his labor is a 1956 Ford tractor that he spent countless hours breathing life back into. Paul was an avid deer and turkey hunter and in 2009 he killed a buck of a lifetime. A Boone & Crockett record that was featured in North American Whitetail Magazine. Paul loved everyone but beamed with pride over his kids and grandkids. Paul was a 1975 graduate of Greenup County High School. He was active in baseball, football and FFA. Paul worked a variety of jobs prior to the purchase of his first semi at which time he transformed to “Rooster” and hauled steel, logs and chemicals for 20+ years across the country.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Roxanne Kegley, whom he wed on March 2, 1982; one daughter, Amanda Litteral of Lexington, KY; two sons, Justin (Amy) Kegley of Sandy Hook, KY., and Jessy (Lindsey) Kegley of Greenup, KY; eight grandchildren, that were his pride and joy, Harmony Litteral, Elijah Litteral, Taylore Moore, Austin Kegley, Amelia Kegley, Josey Kegley, Jordy Kegley and Joey Kegley. Along with his constant and loyal companion, his Shih tzu, Peppy.
Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Dan Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Kegley Family Cemetery in Greenup, KY. Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the funeral home from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. and from 12 P.M. until the funeral hour on Wednesday.
