Robert Timberlake JR Obituary

Robert “Bobby” Timberlake 57 of South Shore, Kentucky left this world to join his Heavenly Father on May 5, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. Robert was born November 6, 1965 in Portsmouth Ohio to Paul and Jolene Timberlake who both proceeded him in death.

In life Robert was a generous free-spirited person. He was normally found sitting on his porch when the weather was nice visiting with neighbors and anyone who wanted to stop by and visit. He didn’t know a stranger and knew about every person around on a personal level in some way or another, and loved helping anyone who needed it. He was adventurous and loved telling stories about traveling and experiences he’d had in his life including trips to the Kentucky derby, being on tv as a Kentucky lottery winner, trips with friends, and just living a life he enjoyed. There was no telling what kind of story Robert would have to tell you from day to day and he loved to tell jokes and more often than not him telling the joke was funnier than the actual joke. He was the definition of being raised in Appalachia, and loved talking about “the good old days,” as well as the stories and superstitions of those who were here before him, passing down traditions and how to live a simpler life to his nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Robert was proceeded in death by his infant brother, Joey Timberlake and sister, Dana Boggs, along with a host of aunts, uncles, and extended family members. Robert leaves behind a sister, Stephanie Phipps, brother-in-law Eddie Phipps of South Shore. Nieces, Emily (Skylar) Austin of South Shore, Sarah (Joshua) Brown of Clay City, Indiana; nephews, Eddie Phipps Jr of South Shore and Zachary (Mika) Boggs of Clay City, Indiana who he loved and treated as his own. Great nieces and nephews, Bryleigh Craft, Aria Brown, Jolee Boggs, Bryson Boggs, Jacob Brown, Tre Phipps, and Josiah Brown who he adored as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family who will mourn his passing and know the world is a little less bright without his presence and stories.

A celebration of life will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, May 13, 2023 at South Portsmouth Community Church 59 Rudy Street South Portsmouth, KY with Richard Jordan officiating. Visitation will be at the church starting at 10 A.M. for everyone to pay their respects, tell stories, and reflect on a life well lived. Flowers are welcome, as well as donations to the local food pantry, or a non-profit children’s hospital. He would also encourage anyone who wants to do something in his remembrance to find someone who needs help and help them, as he’s always lived by the philosophy that no matter how bad you have it someone else always has it worse and found joy and purpose in doing for others.
