GARRISON-Decorated Retired Vietnam Veteran Dies Stephen Michael Francia (Maj. Ret,) - 78 of Garrison Kentucky, died October 23, 2015 at the Hempstead Manor in Portsmouth Ohio. He was born September 30, 1937 in Portsmouth, to the late Stephen Francia, Step-Mother Mary Francia, and Mother Virginia Gronefield and Step-father Charles. Mike was the beloved husband of Norma (Kamer) Francia. Mike served 20 years in the United States Army which included three tours in Vietnam. After retirement Mike taught ROTC in High Schools for 20 years in Tennessee and Kentucky. Mike is survived by his children Shelly Francia, Stephanie (Mike) Searls, Linda (Ron) Cole, Debrah Peck-Wolfgang, Patricia Francia, Stephen Francia Jr., James (Charolette) Francia, Stephenja Francia-Roe, Robert (Jamie) Dunahoo, Jessica Amber (Shannon) Jamison, Patrick (Emily) Francia and Andrew Francia, his sisters Sharon (Dave) Ritchie and Carol Jean Wolford, his brothers Robert (Judy), Edward, Fred (Sandy) and Chris (Mary) Francia and 10 Grandchildren. In addition to his parents and step-parents he was preceded in death by daughter Teresa Peck and Grandson Richard Monpanez. Visitation will be at Morton Funeral Home in South Shore, KY, on Monday, October 26, 2015, 6-8pm, Rosary Mass will begin at 7:30p at Morton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Tuesday October 27, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 6th Street, Portsmouth, OH with Father Adam Streitenberger officiating. Burial will follow at the Waring Cemetery in Garrison Ky with Military Graveside services conducted by VFW Post 5438 of Vanceburg.
