Claude Steven “Steve” Dailey, 64, of South Shore, Kentucky, passed away on October 10, 2025, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the victim of a hit-and-run incident that occurred on October 2, 2025, in Louisville. Steve was born on January 26, 1961, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Thomas and Leta Frances Dailey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Brandon Dailey, and his sister, Leta Diann Dailey Fegan of Edgewater, Maryland.
Steve's memory will be cherished by his daughter, Nikki Renee Dailey; his two sisters, Becky Dailey Caplinger of South Shore, Kentucky, and Kathy (Curt) Dailey Wireman of Jesup, Georgia; as well as several nieces and nephews who will greatly miss him.
He graduated from Greenup County High School in 1979, where he was an outgoing, strong, handsome, and intelligent young man. A standout football player, Steve was part of the 1977 State Football Championship team.
In 1981, he enlisted in the United States Army and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. During his service, he was deployed to Panama for Operation Just Cause.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date. Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home of South Shore, Kentucky, is assisting the family with arrangements
