William "Bill' Joseph Fields, 89, of South Shore, KY died Friday July 1, 2016
surrounded by family at SOMC after a brief illness.
He was born December 18, 1926 in Portsmouth, Ohio a son of the late Joseph
Fields and Vesta Hay Fields.
He was a WWII Navy veteran. Bill worked for over 30 years at the Piketon Uranium
Enrichment Plant before retiring in 1989. Retirement did not mean slowing down,
however. He continued his passions of spending time with his family, golfing,
gardening and furniture making.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Virginia Shingler Fields, whom he
married October 3, 1946; a daughter, Sharon (Dale Sr.) Wilkerson of South Shore,
KY; grandsons, Dale Jr. (Aerika) Wilkerson of Columbus, OH and David (Sarah)
Wilkerson of Wurtland, KY; a special niece, Jeanette (Ron) Jones of Jackson, OH
and a sister, Garnet Stevens of Tulsa, OK.
Memorial services will be held at 1 pm Thursday July 7, 2016 at MORTON FUNERAL
HOME in South Shore, KY. with Jeff Lambert officiating. Visitation will be
